Understanding the Display/Amend Practice Information Screen 

This screen is used to display  core  information for an existing Practice. 

Users with FULL access rights to the PC screen can add or amend Practice  core  

information. Users with Read Only access or Abbreviated access can only either: 

          press the  key to view the GP composition of the Practice; or 

          enter a different Practice code in the qualifier, to view details for another 

Practice. 

Practice Code 

The code for this Practice. If this code is to be changed, the format must be either: 

           2NNNNN , where `N' represents a number (for Isle of Man, Jersey and 

Guernsey only); or 

          ANNNNN , where `A' represents an alphabetic character and `N' represents a 

number (for all English and Welsh HAs). 

Examples of valid National Codes are therefore: 212345, 222222 etc. (for Isle of Man, 

Jersey and Guernsey); or A12345, B77777, X80461, etc. (for English and Welsh HAs). 

NOTE 

It is important that the correct National Code is assigned to each Practice. This 

code may be required by other people outside your organisation in order to 

identify data, derived from your NHAIS System, for the Practice.

Practice Name 

The name by which the Practice is usually known. 

Responsible HA 

The Q code and name of the Health Authority to which the Practice is responsible. 

Date registered 

The date when this Practice was first registered at your HA. 

Date first registered 

The date when this Practice was first registered at any HA. 

Contract Type (G or P) 

Enter `G' if this Practice is operating under a GMS contract, or enter `P' in this field if 

the Practice is in the PMS scheme. 

Contract Start Date 

Enter the date to show when this Practice was, or will be operating within the contract 

type specified in the Contract Type field. Dates for Contract Type changes can be 

specified both for the future and the past. 

NOTE 

If an existing Practice changes its Contract Type, both the Contract Type and 

Contract Start Date fields will need to be amended. The new Contract Start Date 

must be later than the previously displayed contract start date. Note that the
