Understanding the New PCO Composition Screen  

Start Date

Enter the start date from which the practice composition for this PCO is to take effect. 

Practice Codes

After you have entered the start date, 90 fields are available for you to enter the National 

Practice Codes of all the practices which will make up the PCO, with effect from the 

Start Date which you have specified. 

The practice codes which you specify must already be known to the system: in other 

words, they must have already been entered on the PC (Practice Maintenance) screen.  

An index of known practice codes (already entered via the PC screen) can be viewed by 

entering a key of `PC' with a qualifier of `I'. 

The practices whose codes are entered on this screen must not belong to any other PCO 

as of the Start Date specified.  A practice can 

only 

belong to 

one

 PCO at any one time. 

It is possible to  merge in  the complete make up of one or more other PCOs by 

entering all the Practice codes from within those PCOs.  This will also have the effect of 

 ending  the most recent configuration of those other PCOs, thus making them read 

only.
