PCOs 

By the middle of 2003, PCTs had evolved to become Primary Care Organisations 

(PCOs), as part of the drive for uniformity across the four countries covered by the 

new GMS contract. 

In this document, the term PCO is used to cover all the Primary Care Organisations 

described above. 

USE OF THE HG SCREENS 

The HG screens allow you to: 

Add and amend  core  information about PCOs. 

Add, maintain and delete  relationships  between PCOs and GP practices.  

These relationships define the composition of a PCO in terms of its 

constituent practices. 

Enter and amend Discretionary and Non discretionary bank account details 

for PCOs. 

Display index lists of all PCOs for which  core  information has been 

established on your HA system. 

Display GP, Partnership, Practice and PCO information for a specific 

patient on the live database. 

Display GP, Partnership, Practice and PCO information for a specific GP 

on your HA system. 

Display population counts for all PCOs on the database. 

Display population counts for all GPs who have patients but are not linked 

to a PCO. 

If and when activated, data entered on this screen will also be transmitted automatically 

to the National Strategic Tracing Service (NSTS).
