The GPs in the partnership can be entered in seniority order.  The senior partner s GP 

code will then be used to identify the partnership. 

A current partnership may be displayed by entering the GP code of any member of the 

partnership in the qualifier.  When the screen is displayed, the senior partner s GP code 

will automatically appear in the qualifier. 

 A non current partnership requires the senior GP code to be entered in the qualifier, 

along with the partnership start date.  Possible entries in the qualifier will give the 

screens shown below:

A partnership is identified by the name of the senior partner AND the start date. 

However, if a partner joins or leaves, a NEW partnership must be set up even though the 

senior partner may remain. 

An additional screen indicator is used as a way of controlling electronic transmission of 

partnership statement details to linked partnership practices.  This control at individual 

partner level may also be used to control transmission of individually paid statements. 

Once a partnership has been set up on the first page of the GP screen, and payments have 

been processed to that partnership, the details must not be changed, as this will invalidate 

the payment.  Changes to the partnership must instead be recorded by terminating the 

existing partnership on the change date, and setting up a new partnership containing 

those changes and starting on the following day.
