Appendix 3: Configuring Windows Media Player 

Windows Media Player must be configured manually if content is to arrive via the Broadband satellite 

path. 

1. Launch Media Player. 

2. To configure Windows Media Player for the Proxy solution, The Options dialog 

box is displayed and then select the menu option, Tools >Options. 

3. Click on the `Network` page tab. In the `Streaming protocols' group box, check the Multicast and 

HTTP checkboxes and uncheck the UDP and TCP checkboxes. 

4. Click on the Performance page tab. In the Connection Speed group box, click on the `My 

connection speed is` radio button and then select from the drop down list the speed corresponding to 

your connection `DSL/Cable (768 Kbps)` for example, as shown in the screen capture below. 

5. Click Apply and then `OK` to exit.
