6.6  Internet configuration and redirections 

If you would like to receive your emails or news group content over the satellite link, you must 

configure the application to receive content via the ASTRA proxy client. 

6.6.1  Why is redirection necessary? 

Using only your terrestrial connection, requests for Internet pages, emails or other content are sent to 

your ISP, which makes an identical request of the server that hosts the requested content. The 

requested content is sent from the web server to the ISP who forwards it via your telephone and 

modem to your computer. 

Applications that are directed to use the satellite proxy work in a similar way, but content coming in to 

the computer uses the much faster satellite path. 

Redirecting data in this way will enable you to use the complete power of the ASTRA Broadband 

service, as in the example below.
