The Future According to the Book of Daniel 281
The Antichrist then sets his heart against Christianity, which is most
prevalent in the kingdom of the South. The faithful Christians have always
been against him for they have recalled and understood the many ancient
prophecies about the Antichrist. They know who he is and that he is evil. He
realizes that they are the only ones who can stand steadfastly against him
because they have faith and understanding. The Antichrist tries to suppress
the Christian faith and to lead Christians away from the truth.
{11:29} At the appointed time, he will return, and he will approach the
South, but the latter time will not be like the former.
{11:30} And the Greek warships and the Romans will come upon him, and
he will be pierced, and will retreat, and will have scorn against the testament
of the sanctuary, and he will act. And he will return and will consult their
adversaries, who have forsaken the covenant of the sanctuary.
Later, about halfway through the Antichrist s reign of nearly seven years, the
Antichrist brings an army against the South (to destroy the Christians). But
warships and soldiers from another place in the world, not from the South,
intercept him. Greece was the birthplace of democracy, so Greek warships
are ships from an area or a people who still practice democracy, to some
degree. And the Romans are devout Roman Catholics who join with the
Greeks to prevent the Antichrist from bringing an army to destroy the
Christians of the South and of the holy land. They know the Antichrist s
plan in advance through the prophecies of God and thus are able to
anticipate his actions and intercept him.
These attack the Antichrist s fleet and are able to pierce through his armor
and his defenses. The Antichrist fears and realizes he cannot win. He
retreats in disgrace and humiliation, and his anger against the Christian faith
is thereby increased. He decides to use a different approach to destroy the
Faith of Christians. He returns to the North and consults with the
adversaries of devout Catholic Christians, that is, with those who are
unfaithful Catholics, who rebel against Church teaching, who embrace
mortal sins while pretending to be Christians. These have forsaken the
covenant of the sanctuary.
{11:31} And arms will take his side, and they will pollute the sanctuary of
the strength, and they will take away the continual sacrifice and will replace
it with the abomination of desolation.
{11:32} And the impious within the testament will imitate deceitfully, but
the people, knowing their God, will persevere and will act.
