Special Gifts from God 231
The Day of Healing is a different day than the earlier Day of Repentance.
And there is some length of time between those two days. The order of the
days is this: First repentance, then healing. If you do not repent of your sins,
how is it that you still expect God to heal you? The soul is more important
than the body.
The Fall of the Unfaithful
And on that day, says the L
ORD
of hosts, I will cut off the names of the
idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more; and also I
will remove from the land the prophets and the unclean spirit. (Zech 13:2).
Those who exalt themselves, as if they were idols to be worshipped or
followed instead of Christ, will lose their power and their popularity at that
time. These false teachers can be recognized because they fight against the
teaching and authority of Christ and His Church. Before this day, they have
many followers, many who listen and are deceived by them. After this day,
the Day of Healing, they will lose their following and be forgotten.
In the recent history of the Church, there have been numerous voices of
dissent which question or contradict many of the teachings of Christ and His
Church. They have a certain measure of power because many Christians,
those who are weak in faith, follow them. They have led the weak and the
sinful away from Christ. But on that day, these false teachers will lose much
of the power and influence which they formerly held over Christians. Many
of those who had been lost or misled will receive the light of faith and a
clearer understanding of truth. Notice that the healing received by many on
the Day of Healing is a true spiritual healing. God will heal both body and
soul on the Day of Healing, but not everyone will be healed.
The prophets who are removed from the land are the false prophets, as is
clear from the verses which follow. `You shall not live for you speak lies in
the name of the L
ORD
.' (Zech 13:3; cf. Zech 13:4). There will still be true
prophecies and true prophets after this time (e.g. Rev 11:3), for the end of
prophecy does not occur until the beginning of the Millennium of peace and
holiness in the mid 25th century A.D. (cf. Dan 9:24).
`On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he
prophesies; he will not put on a hairy mantle to deceive....' (Zech 13:4).
Every false prophet will be ashamed of their false prophecy. They will be
ashamed that they opposed the Church and led people away from Christ.
Some will repent because they have been sharply corrected by faithful
Christians. `And if one asks him, What are these wounds on your back?
he will say, The wounds I received in the house of my friends. ' (Zech
