230 The Bible and the Future of the World
The Faithful Seek Jesus
When Jesus was twelve years old, he went with his parents to Jerusalem
for the feast of Passover. After the feast, He stayed behind while His parents
began the journey home. Mary and Joseph sought Jesus among the
company on the journey.
... and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking
him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the
teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard
him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. (Luke 2:45 47).
On the Day of Repentance, and in the time which follows, the Church
will be like the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, seeking Jesus anxiously.
`Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.'
(Luke 2:48). At that time, Jesus will do as he did in the temple of
Jerusalem He will teach. Notice that Jesus was asking the teachers of the
temple questions. This is a time honored method of teaching. Jesus was not
asking questions in order to learn something. He was asking questions as a
way to teach. So too, will the Church and the faithful increase their teaching
of the Church and the world at that time.
The Day of Healing
On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and
the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.
(Zech 13:1).
On one particular day, the Day of Healing, many persons throughout the
world, Christians and other faithful servants of God, will be healed in their
souls; they will be cleansed from sin. And many faithful souls will be healed
of physical injuries, diseases, and impairments (cf. Lk 17:19; Mt 11:4 5).
Many people will be healed both in body and in soul. People will
understand that Jesus heals soul, spirit, and body.
46
When Jesus healed a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath, the
scribes and Pharisees were filled with fury and discussed with one another
what they might do to Jesus (Luke 6:11). In the same way, when God gives
this great gift of spiritual and physical healing to the world, many who have
rejected God's gifts will plot against faithful Christians, against the Church,
and against all who love God.
God's Holy Infallible Scripture says that a fountain of cleansing will be
opened on a particular day. The phrase shall be ... opened means that the
opportunity to be cleansed continues beyond that one particular day on
which it begins.
