220 The Bible and the Future of the World
Notice that even in this evil time, God takes care of all people of good
will, not only faithful Christians. Yet many people will have thoroughly
immersed themselves in sin, so that the demons, the fallen angels, will be
allowed to have much power over both nature and human events. The
demons would have no power to do harm, if not for the sins of the people.
30. I address a pressing appeal to the earth: I call upon the true disciples of
God living and reigning in the heavens; I call upon the true imitators of
Christ made man, the only and true savior of men; I call upon my children,
my true devotees, those who have given themselves to me so that I may
guide them to my divine Son, those whom I carry so to speak in my arms,
those who have lived by my spirit; finally I call upon the Apostles of the last
times, the faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who have lived in a contempt for
the world and for themselves, in poverty and in humility, in contempt and in
silence, in prayer and in mortification, in chastity and in union with God, in
suffering and unknown to the world. It is time that they go out and come to
enlighten the earth. Go, and show yourselves as my dear children; I am with
you and in you, provided that your faith be the light which enlightens you in
these days of woe. May your zeal render you like the starving for the glory
and honor of Jesus Christ. Fight, children of light, you the small number
who can see; for behold the time of times, the end of ends.
The phrase May your zeal render you like the starving means that your
zeal should cause you to become like those who are starving for food, except
that you would be starving for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ.
Yes, despite all of the immense and horrific evils of those years, there
shall be a core of true and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. These few true
Christians shall excel in holiness, love of God and neighbor, and prayer.
They shall endure great sufferings. They are the Church Crucified with Jesus
the true Christ. After a short time they shall be victorious, not through
violence and war, but through prayer, love, self sacrifice, and the great
mercy and power of God.
Remember the parable of the mustard seed. The mustard seed is the
Church which grows, not merely in size or sheer numbers, but in intensity of
faith, love, and hope. The Church's understanding of the Gospel and Her
willingness to be more and more like Jesus Christ increases as time passes.
So, even in these dark years, these years of great evil on earth, the lamp of
faith burns brightly in the Church.
The phrase the end of ends does not mean that this time is the end of
the world. It only means that this is the end of the reign of sin on earth.
After this time, Christ shall reign in the hearts of humanity, and Christ's
teaching and His Church will rule the world.
