The Secrets of La Salette 215
During this time of false peace, there will be true peace among God's
children, because these have rejected sin and accepted the Gospel of Christ
in their hearts. Even as the world grows more sinful, the Church grows in
wisdom and holiness, guided by the Holy Spirit. Yet there will also be an
increase in sinfulness among those members and leaders in the Church who
are not led by the Holy Spirit, but have given themselves over to the ways of
the world. During this false peace, there will be much holiness among those
who remain faithful to Christ, but there will also be many who think
themselves members or leaders in the Church, but who have abandoned
their faith in Christ and His teachings in order to follow the sinful ways of
their society and culture.
24. Nature is asking for vengeance for men, and she shudders with terror
in waiting for that which must come upon the earth soiled with crimes.
25. Tremble, earth and you who make profession of serving Jesus Christ
and who on the inside you adore yourselves, tremble; for God is going to
deliver you over to His enemy, because the holy places are in corruption;
many convents are no longer houses of God, but the pastures of Asmodeas
and his sort.
The saying that nature will tremble is no mere metaphor. The earth and
the mountains will literally shake and tremble. It is God's will that nature
react against the sinfulness of humanity.
During the 24th century, there will be much sin among many members
and leaders of the Church (Mt 23). So sinful are some of the members of the
priesthood and religious life that the Virgin Mary describes them as being
outwardly dedicated to God, but inwardly dedicated only to themselves.
Persons such as this try to give the appearance that they follow Christ Jesus,
but inwardly they worship themselves. It is such great sin among those
supposedly dedicated to God that will usher in the time of the ten kings and
Antichrist.
Many convents (and monasteries) will cease to be gardens of holiness and
will become grazing grounds for demons, such as Asmodeas (Tobit 3:8).
The Virgin Mary here warns priests and religious against the power that
such fallen angels have over those who have put aside their faith in God to
pursue sinful ways.
The phrase the holy places are in corruption refers to those souls
consecrated to God who should be temples of the Holy Spirit, but who are
desecrated by sin. In that time, there will be much sin and corruption among
the leaders of the Church as well as among the laity. Many priests and
religious will have immersed themselves in evil desires, thoughts, and deeds.
