The Secrets of La Salette 209
will coincide with the year A.D. 2431 in the Christian (Gregorian) calendar.
(The Islamic calendar year is shorter than the Christian calendar year.)
The book of Daniel also places the reign of Antichrist in the 25th century.
The seventy weeks of years spoken of by Daniel (Dan 9:24) is a period of
490 years (a week of years is 7 years). The seventy weeks of years began in
1948 with the rebuilding of Jerusalem, that is, with the rebuilding of the
state of Israel (Dan 9:25). The seventy weeks of years ends with one week of
years (about 7 years) during which Antichrist reigns over the world (Dan
9:27). That week of years will begin in A.D. 2431 and end in A.D. 2437.
The first year of the 490 years was 1948 and the last year will be 2437, which
is 490 years counting inclusively. (After the reign of Antichrist is ended,
there will be a series of punishments from God upon the unrepentant, about
the years 2438 to 2439.)
Notice that the year for the start of Antichrist's reign based on this passage
from the book of Daniel matches exactly the year given by the Virgin Mary
at La Salette (once that year is converted from the Islamic to the Christian
calendar date). This confirms that A.D. 2431 is the correct year for the start
of the reign of Antichrist.
The Abomination
The abomination is a perverse replacement for the Holy Eucharist which
will be devised by false Christians. This heresy, this idolatry, this blasphemy
against God and Jesus Christ, is not the invention of Antichrist. It is a
grievous sacrilege by those who are Christian in name only. These false
Christians, who are lost but claim to be found, who are children of evil
masquerading as children of God, do something worse than all of the past
idolatries of the ancient Israelites. They replace the Holy Eucharist with an
evil and perverse substitute, the abomination.
The abomination will be set up in some holy places, in chapels and
convents (and monasteries) and in the tabernacles of churches, in place of
the True Holy Eucharist. Those who receive the abomination, the false
Eucharist, will be giving themselves over to the power of evil. Just as the
true Holy Eucharist strengthens faithful Christians to do good, so will the
false Eucharist strengthen these false Christians (who have abandoned the
teachings and the true Sacraments of the Church) to do evil.
Those who eat the abomination are condemned by God (Isaiah 66:17). It
is through the abomination that the devil will attempt to make himself as the
king of hearts. Jesus the true Christ is meant to be the King of all hearts,
especially through His presence in the Holy Eucharist.
