From the Book of Revelation 183
Antichrist (broken, but still alive), his false prophet (the Antivirginmary),
and the armies of their worldwide kingdom gather to make war against
Jesus Christ and His servants. Perhaps they expect their fight against Jesus
and His servants to be like previous wars on earth, waged with weapons and
soldiers and battles. But the army which follows Jesus Christ is not an army
of weapons of war.
Notice that no battles are described. The wicked are immediately
overcome and defeated. Antichrist and the false prophet are thrown alive,
body and soul, into Hell. Their army is slain, not with weapons of war, but
with the sword from Jesus' mouth, that is, with Truth.
This is the war which was prepared for by the sixth bowl of plagues,
which dried up the river Euphrates. This is the war called Armageddon, but
it is not like any other war. No battles are fought. It is not the worst war or
the greatest war. It is the defeat of the wicked by Jesus Christ; a quick and
thorough defeat. The wicked are slain by God, and not long afterwards the
Millennium begins.
This is the time spoken of by the Apostle Saint Paul in his letter to the
Thessalonians. In that letter, God's Holy Infallible Scripture says, And then
the lawless one will be revealed, and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the
breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming.
(2 Thess 2:8).
When Jesus does Return from Heaven to destroy the wicked and establish
His kingdom on earth, it is not the end of the world, nor is it the time spoken
of in the Creed, which says, He will come again to judge the living and the
dead. These things occur after the Millennium.
The Millennium (Rev 20:1 6)
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven.... And he seized the
dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for
a thousand years. (Rev 20:1.2).
For over a thousand years, the devil will be restrained and confined, and
have no power to do evil on earth. This time of over a thousand years is
called the Millennium. It will be a time of unsurpassed holiness and
unimaginable glory for the Church on earth. The Millennium will begin in
the mid 25th century A.D. and will last for well over a thousand years.
The Church grows in holiness from the time of Christ to the beginning of
the Millennium. Finally, during these thousand plus years, the Church will
be mature in holiness. The Church will then be like the fully grown bush
which sprang from the mustard seed (Mt 13:31). The Church will also be
like the three measures of meal which is leaven all through (Mt 10:33).
