From the Book of Revelation 145
In the years described by this passage, there will be some women who
exalt themselves by usurping roles of teaching and leadership in the
Church roles not given to them by God. Moreover, these will also teach
and lead others to violate the Church's teaching on faith and morals. These
women will exalt themselves by fighting against the teaching of Christ and
His Church. The phrase beguiling my servants to practice immorality
means that these women leaders in the Church encourage others to break
the Church's teaching on morals. I am not here referring to all women in the
Church, nor to all women with roles of leadership in the Church, but only to
those women who obtain roles of teaching and leadership not given to them
by Christ and to those women especially who use such positions to
undermine or oppose the Church's teaching.
The next phrase, to eat food sacrificed to idols, may refer to some
misuse or perversion of the Holy Eucharist. The sacrament of Holy
Communion is true food and the consecration of the Holy Eucharist is at the
center of the sacrifice of the Holy Mass. During these years, there will be a
foreshadowing of the abomination of desolation. In some manner, faithless
and arrogant Christians will alter or sin against the Holy Mass and the Holy
Eucharist.
There will also be some few women who will pretend to say Mass and
pretend to consecrate the Eucharist. These few will offend God greatly by
usurping the role of priest and pastor in the Church. This passage in
Revelation is a warning to the faithful about those few women leaders who
will try to remake the Church and the Faith according to their own will.
There are women ministers in some Protestant churches. When the
Protestant Churches repent and unite with the Catholic Church, these
women will not be allowed to become priests. They will have to step down.
If some of these do not step down, they too will become like the Jezebel
mentioned in this passage.
Sardis (Rev 3:1 6)
` I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are
dead. Awake, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for
I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God.... Yet you have
still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and
they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. ' (Rev 3:1 2.4).
This part of the Church has much sin among many of its members. Yet a
few remain who are holy, for God's grace never fails to bear fruit. God
encourages and warns the sinners in this part of the Church to repent and be
saved.
