The Crucifixion of the Church 69
replaced in many places by the abomination (Dan 12:11). It is then that the
abomination flourishes.
Wine was consecrated by Jesus, and is still consecrated by Jesus through
the priest at Mass, to become the Holy Eucharist (Mt 26:27 29; Mark 14:23
25; Luke 22:20; 1 Cor 11:17 32). In this passage, wine mixed with gall
symbolizes that evil imitation of the Eucharist called the abomination. This
false Eucharist will be put to the lips of the Church, but like Her Savior, the
Church will reject this evil food. Faithful Christians must reject the
abomination as Jesus rejected the wine mixed with gall, otherwise they will
fall under the power of evil. But the wicked who receive this evil food will be
severely punished by God.
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich described the Crucifixion of Christ in
the book The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She describes the men
who scourged Jesus drinking some kind of drink which only increased their
cruelty towards Christ. Several of the servants of the High Priests went up
to the brutal executioners and gave them money; as also a large jug filled
with a strong bright red liquid, which quite inebriated them, and increased
their cruelty tenfold towards their innocent Victim.

The abomination is
similar; those who partake of this false Eucharist are abandoning Christ;
they increase in cruelty and sinfulness.
Holy Scripture refers to the abomination, the false Eucharist, when Paul
writes, You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You
cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. (1 Cor
10:21). Paul is referring to problems in the early Church having to do with
the sacrifices of pagans and of food offered to idols. But God's Holy
Infallible Scripture is also referring to the future of the Church, when that
evil food of false sacrifice, the abomination, will be set up in holy places and
accepted by some unfaithful Christians.
Jesus' words at the Last Supper also foreshadow that time of great danger,
when the abomination will be offered to the Church. Immediately after
consecrating the Holy Eucharist, Jesus warns the Church about the false
Eucharist. But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the
table. (Luke 22:21). Jesus, by these words, was referring not only to Judas
Iscariot, who betrayed Him, but also to those unfaithful Christians who will
betray Christ by means of the false Eucharist, the abomination.
They Cast Lots for His Cloths (Mark 15:24)
And they crucified him, and divided his garments among them, casting
lots for them, to decide what each should take. (Mark 15:24).
The Blessed Virgin Mary revealed to Saint Bridget that Jesus was
permitted to wear a small cloth to cover his loins when he was on the
