40 The Bible and the Future of the World
the Church worldwide into one Church will take just over three years, but
the conversion of hearts and minds needed to bring about this unity takes
more time, beginning years earlier.
This conversion comes from God, His Providence, and His Grace. It does
not occur by means of committees and the bureaucrats of religion. Faithful
Christians will understand that this change in the Church is the work of
God. But it takes time.
Some Protestants might be upset to read my words that they will change
their minds and hearts to believe what the Catholic Church teaches. I tell
you, those who have faith believe whatever Jesus Christ teaches, whether it
makes sense to them or not. The Church's teaching is Jesus' teaching. Those
who do not have faith believe whatever suits them. However, I console you
with these words: after the Protestant Churches repent and convert and unite
with the Catholic Church, there will be elected a Pope who is not a Roman
Catholic. He will be one of the converted Protestants.
Also, you should know that during the process of the conversion of the
Protestants, Catholics will also repent and be converted and grow in faith.
The entire Church shall be refreshed and renewed. But the many teachings
of the Church which the world today opposes will not change.
The Pharisees and the Abomination (Luke 16:14 15)
The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all this, and they
scoffed at him. But he said to them, `You are those who justify yourselves
before men, but God knows your hearts; for what is exalted among men is
an abomination in the sight of God.' (Luke 16:14 15).
This passage contains a prophetic reference to the abomination (Dan
11:31, Mt 24:15). It will be false Christian leaders in the Church, those who
resemble the Pharisees, who will devise and set up the abomination spoken
of by Jesus and by Daniel.
The Pharisees loved money. So also, in the Church, there are some false
Christian leaders, some nuns, monks, and priests, who love money. They
take a vow of poverty, but they pursue money. They claim that if they don't
personally own the money, they are not breaking their vow of poverty. Yet
even though the money belongs to their order or their convent or to a
charitable organization, they obtain power by having control of the money. I
once saw a nun take up a collection of money for a charitable purpose.
When the amount of money was counted and announced, she literally
danced for joy at how much money she had obtained.
And how is it that a group of religious, each of whom has taken a vow of
poverty, can as a group be rich? It is a sin against the vow of poverty for a
group of priests or religious to amass wealth within their organization.
