each person based on their own choices, regardless of the nation to which
they belong.
Concerning the Crucifixion of the Church, some Christians don't want to
hear that part of Christ's teaching which says that they must take up their
crosses and follow Christ. Such persons will likely be upset to read my
words that the Church will endure periods of intense persecution and
suffering in the future.
Concerning the Pope, he is God's holy servant and the friend of Jesus
Christ, therefore he must suffer much. It is unavoidable. Do you think that
the worldwide Church could suffer greatly, without the Pope joining in that
suffering? The Pope is not exempt from the words of Jesus, he who does
not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life
will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it. (Mt 10:38 39).
Concerning the complete destruction of Vatican City, it is God's will.
Nothing can be done about it. Consider every structure ever built by human
persons. Sooner or later they will all crumble to the ground. No such
structure can last forever. Even the great Temple built by Solomon,
described in detail in Holy Scripture, is no more. Thus, when the book of
Revelation describes the new Jerusalem, the holy city, it is not built by
human hands but comes down from Heaven (Rev 21:2).
Concerning the great sufferings and punishments which God is about to
send upon the earth, God will first strengthen and enlighten His people.
Then there will be terror and destruction and much suffering. May God
have mercy on us all.
The Appendix
In the Appendix to this book, I have kept the section on the Secret of
Fatima that was in the previous (4th) edition. I have added a number of my
articles about the future which were previously published at
CatholicPlanet.com. I have also added the text from my online seminar
about the future in the section called Summary of Future Events. In an
online Catholic discussion group, which I moderate, I posted a series of
comments summarizing my view of the future of the Church and the world.
Much of this material is found within the body of this book, but it does
make for a nice overview of the content of the book. My article The Future
According to the Book of Daniel, included in the Appendix, contains
additional insights into the future which came from my translation of the
Book of Daniel from Latin into English. Understanding the Latin text gave
me additional insight into the meaning of this book. (I am currently working
on translating the entire Latin Vulgate Bible into English.)
