IOS SLB
An IOS based server load balancer that provides IP server load balancing. Using
this feature, the network administrator defines a virtual server that represents a
group of real servers.
IOS SLB works in conjunction with the Catalyst 6000 family of switches.
IOS CSM
A server load balancing blade for the Catalyst 6000 family CSM (Content
Switching Module). It provides high performance connections between network
devices and server farms based on Layer 4 through 7 information packets. You
can represent a group of real servers (server farm) as a single virtual server,
balance the traffic to the server farm by selecting one of the real servers (server
load balancing), and limit traffic to individual servers (sticky connections) and
server farms.
L

An action that spreads network requests among available servers within a cluster
of servers, based on a variety of algorithms.
