CSS VIP Redundancy

Step 4

Select the virtual router. If no VR appears, you must configure your device using 

the ip virtual router command. The VR can be created in HSE or see the CSS

ee05c.html. Click Next.

Note

VR ID must match on two CSS devices. For example, if there are VRs on 

both devices but no two have common VR ID, then no VR will be shown 

in HSE.

Step 5

Select from the list of available VIPs you wish to assign to this VR and move them 

to the list of assigned VIPs. Click Next.

Step 6

Select the Shared check box to set the VIP to shared. Click Next.

Step 7

Click Finish to accept the configuration on the Summary page.

VIP Address Criteria

The IP address of the VIP must meet these criteria:

It must be one of the VIP addresses used by a content rule on the CSS. 

It must be in the range of IP addresses defined by the IP address command 

that put the CLI into interface mode. For example, if the command was IP 

address 192.168.1.20/24, the address must be in the range 

192.168.1.1 192.168.1.254, inclusive. The broadcast addresses (192.168.1.0 

and 192.168.1.255) cannot be used.

It must not match the local IP interface address for that subnet (for example, 

192.168.1.20).

It must not match the IP address of any other VIPs.
