Chapter 5 Configuring Devices
Activating Server Load Balancing Services
When you activate a real server, the server is again eligible for new virtual
server connections, and the LocalDirector sends to the server the next
qualifying connection.
When you suspend a virtual server, they are set to out of service.
When you suspend a real server, you have four options:
Sticky The LocalDirector does not assign new connections to it, but
lets old connections continue to run until they have been completed. An
out of service real server can still be accessed by clients entering its
actual IP address.
Out of Service The LocalDirector does not assign new connections to
it, and the connections are cleared when it is put back in service.
Maintenance The LocalDirector does not assign new connections to it,
and the connections are not cleared when it is put back in service.
Failed The server is failed by an external source (for example, another
device notifies the LocalDirector that an application is down.)
Catalyst 6000 Series devices with CSM (Content Switching Module) and
CSM 3.x or later versions.
