Auditing Configuration Changes

The Hosting Solution Engine runs an audit of the devices once a day. You can 

schedule the audit to run at whatever time you want.

Comparing Configuration Changes

You can use this feature to compare the historical changes in device configuration 

on a single CSS, native IOS Catalyst 6000 with SSL module, or hybrid Catalyst 

6000 MSFC configured device. You can also compare the differences in device 

configuration for any two of those devices. You can also use this feature to 

display the complete configuration for a single device.

You can either view a short comparison that only shows the differences between 

the configurations, or you can view a longer comparison that shows the entire 

configuration of both devices with the differences highlighted. If no configuration 

changes have been made to a device since the last audit occurred, the device will 

not appear in the list. 

Procedure

Step 1

Select Devices >Config Audit >Config Diff. The Config Viewer window 

appears.

Step 2

Select the configurations you want to compare.

Step 3

To view a short comparison that only shows the differences between the 

configurations, click Short Diff. This display is based on the standard UNIX diff 

result. Entries marked with  >  are for the first device. Entries marked with  <  

are for the second device.

Step 4

To view a longer comparison that shows the entire configuration of both devices 

with the differences highlighted, click Diff. Text displayed in bold green text 

shows things added to the second configuration that are not in the first 

configuration. Red text with strike through marks represents text removed from 

the first configuration.
