Discovering Devices Overview

Discovered devices are required by the Hosting Solution Engine so that you can 

use functions, such as Configure tab options. 

To ensure that the Hosting Solution Engine successfully performs discoveries on 

your devices and the device services, you must:

Step 1

Correctly set up your network (see 

Setting Up Your Network, page 4 10

).

Step 2

Add seed devices (see 

Adding Devices, page 4 5

).

Step 3

Run a discovery (see 

Running Device Discovery, page 4 25

).

If you configured your device credentials while you added the seed devices, you 

can skip Steps 4 and 5.

Step 4

Configure device credentials (see 

Entering Device Credentials, page 4 3

).

Step 5

Run a discovery (see 

Running Device Discovery, page 4 25

).

Modifying Discovery

The Hosting Solution Engine automatically discovers devices in your network 

once a day; however, you can manually discover the network at any time and 

modify the range of this discovery process.

You can:
