4.12.1 Whois Search
The whois search allows you to quickly display the full domain name information for domain
names. A whois search involves the following steps:
1.
If you want to search for the domain names in multiple domains then select one or more
domains to search from the domains list.
2.
Enter the domain name(s) with or without the domain extension, or alternatively enter
URL s (full or partial, copied from your web browser for example) or any text.
3.
If you only want domain names extracted from the text that you entered (such as pasted
from a web page) then select the Extract domain names option.
4.
Click the Search button.
Domain Name Pro will display the full domain name information for each domain name. The
information displayed varies for each domain and may contain one or more of the following:
The status of the domain name (available or registered).
The registrant.
Date registered.
Name servers.
Date last updated.
Date it expires.
Technical contact information.
Administration contact information.
To clear previous search results click the Clear Results button.
Example 1:
You enter "internetshop" and select the .com and .org domains.
Domain Name Pro will display the domain name details for internetshop.com and internetshop.org.
Example 2:
You enter "internetshop.co.uk" and "borland.com.au".
Domain Name Pro will display the domain name details for internetshop.co.uk and borland.com.au.
Domain Name Pro ignores the domains selected in the domains list when you specify the domain
in the name.
Example 3:
You enter "http://www.internetshop.com/index.htm".
Domain Name Pro will display the domain name details for internetshop.com. Domain Name Pro
extracts the domain name and domain from the URL and ignores the domains selected in the
domains list.
You can list multiple and mixed domain names, URL s and text in the one query. Separate each
with a space or place them on separate lines.
TIP!
If you have a file containing domain names you can automatically load it into the whois
search and extract the domain names only from it by using the Import domain names option from
the File menu or the right click popup menu on the search term.
